Letters From Peru

  Didn't send an email last week because my phone got stolen in a taxi. Got swiped from my pocket. Luckily that was the only thing stolen. My new companion Elder Montiel is the goat. He's super patient with my broken spanish. But i feel bad for him because he was supposed to open a new area in the Vraem region of Peru, which is in the Amazons, but now he's stuck with me. Its super dangerous since that's the area of Peru that's been home to terrorists since the 80's. Its where all the cocaine in Peru comes from.  There's a bunch of narcos over there. Only Latinos will be able to go serve there for at least the next year. It will be the first jungle area in mission. The area is supposed to open next transfer.  Today for pday and we played soccer in the morning and pickle ball with Presidente and Hermana Byers in the afternoon.  Finished last week of transfers. Getting my new comp tomorrow. My wish came true. So I'm getting a latino companion. Elder Montiel is his name. I hear he's a baptizing machine.  This week was good. Put our friend Jean Pool for a baptism date for the 25th. We had several friends watch conference. Me and Turcsanski watched conference over at the church building. Had an awesome experience. I brought earbuds so I could listen in English. One of my favorite talks was President Emily Freeman’s talk "Best Days and Worst days"  “From Peter’s story we learn that our understanding of eternal truth is not forged in a single moment — testimony is built over time, day after day, both best days and worst.” Had intercambios on Friday with ZL Elder Erickson. Goated Missionary, awesome day. Me and Elder Turcsanski are parting ways after 3 months together.  Today is our pday since we had a ward temple trip. The bus left at 1am and we arrived at the temple at like 6am.  We then left at 4:30pm and got home at 9:30pm...leaving that early was rough but I slept like a baby all the way to East Lima.  Very awesome experience going to the temple in Spanish.  We even ate McDonald's for lunch!  On Thursday we traveled to a hospital to give a very mentally unwell gentleman a blessing.  He had a stroke recently so please pray for him 🙏   Its gonna be a long stretch since Monday is no longer going to be my pday. But its great I have  Easter and Conference to look forward to.  Happy Palm Sunday! ❤️  Love you all!

 We had zone conference on Wednesday with every southern zone. Also had interviews with president. It was awesome. Today for Pday we played volleyball and ate sushi but they didn't have ginger, wasabi or even soy sauce 😭. It was a pretty slow week in terms of work which is unfortunate. Everybody keeps giving us mangoes in all shapes and sizes. Friends, members, our pensionista and even random people on the street give us mangoes. Elder Turk and I barely even like mangoes so i just try my best to give them away to people on the street. Gave like 20 away the other night to the drunks that always chill by our house haha. Our Landlord's son opened his mission call last night. They live downstairs and the whole ward was there. So we got to come home from proselyting to a party.  Ate some delicious cow and drank some juice. He got called to the Columbia Barranquilla mission, very cool.  Wishing everyone the best 🙏

  Interesting week only because Elder Turcsanski had a fever and we had to stay in our apartment sick Tuesday and Wednesday. That sucked.  The zone went to the beach for P-day. I enjoyed feeling the refreshing water just to my knees haha. I got a horrible sunburn on my ankles and feet. I forgot my feet never see the sun so they got absolutely fried. I can barely walk my feet hurt so badly and the heat does not help. Elder Turk is absolutely cooked so he's in a horrible mood right now. The guy is about to get so much attention from how red he is.  I did my first real sweaty service finally, on Saturday.   We helped out a member create a foundation for a house for like 4 hours.  He's one of my favorite members but sadly I found out that he thinks the earth is flat haha. Things are great...love you all✌️ 

  Wow, I had such an amazing week. Friday was exchanges and I was once again with ZL Elder Huff.  It was my first time being in a different area and I got to spend some time in the Ica central. Carnival is going on right now. Its not a very big celebration in Ica, but it was cool to see, but sadly only for 2 seconds because Elder Huff did not enjoy the crowds. He's as locked in as a missionary can get which is good since I can learn from his ways. Our friend's baptism yesterday was a success. She has bone cancer, which is very tragic, and it made the baptism a whole lot harder. I didn't baptize her but I was still in the font to help out with the process. It was a very spiritual moment for everyone. I've never seem her so happy. Love you all!
