Week 2 in MTC

It's been a good and bad week. Half the district was skipping out on class with the cold haha. One of the Elders in my district had to get quarantined in some special MTC dorm. He tried exaggerating the sickness by saying how it was some crazy strain of the rhino virus. And I was like, oh dang! A rhino virus? And then I asked Meta AI what a rhino virus was, and it spit out how it was just the common cold. It's crazy how missionaries get Facebook Messenger on the mission phone. Especially since it has Meta AI on it, which is huge. I feared leaving AI behind, so it's great that I still get to have that. Even if the AI model is the worst I've ever seen.

In the App Store, there's basically just gospel and language apps. The funny thing is that on Duolingo there's a chess course, and these kids are getting crazy at chess.

Little disappointed in the lack of Christmas decor here, and that the BYU Creamery's nog is a poor excuse for a holiday drink. Overall, it's pretty dope being here for the most wonderful time of the year.

It was an honor being able to attend the devotional last night with John D. Amos of the Seventy. He gave my favorite fall General Conference talk. He shared about adding Jesus Christ to our lives by using the good news recipe. So you can believe I was pumped to see he was speaking. Most of these devotionals put me to sleep, but not John Amos's. The combo of his awesome accent because he's from the great state of Louisiana, and his inflections were top notch. He even interacted with the audience. He stated that as missionaries we are not "spreading the word" but "declaring the word," much like angels declaring the word. Like in Luke 2 when the angels declared Jesus's birth to the shepherds. The emphasis on "declaring the word" is very powerful. He always throws in parables with food to keep it pleasant and interesting.

I was laughing with Elder Lowther after because the previous night I was saying how I've always wanted to hear a Southern Baptist preacher. And this devotional was pretty close to what I'd imagine it to be. "Therefore, ask, and ye shall receive; knock, and it shall be opened unto you" Nephi 3:27–29.
I'm pretty sure this is the correct use of the scripture haha.

I'm devastated that my dream of a white Christmas is crushed. Why is it so warm???
But nonetheless, it's a spiritual and special time here. And the fact I get to spend Christmas in this awesome place with the boys is really cool, even with the burden of being away from family.

Love you all, Merry Christmas
